Garmin C2 Erratic Readings

I’ve had a C1 for quite awhile now and never had any issues with it. But being a sucker for new things I got the new C2 and took it out this weekend for the first time. This was at a 100 yard indoor range. I was shooting a .300 Blackout SBR and 8.6 Blackout SBR, both suppressed. Sometimes it would not register the shot at all. Other times it would read 1,000fps on one shot and 300fps on the next shot, and alternate between 1,000 and 300 shot to shot.

I didn’t have the old unit with me to compare, but I will next weekend. In doing a little research online I read where muzzle devices and/or suppressors can sometimes affect the reading. I have never had that issue with the C1. I’m just curious if anyone else has had any issues with the new C2?

Same issue with my Xero C1 last year but only while shooting at an indoor range. Never had the fluctuations as with your readings but would not register numerous rounds…to the point I could not trust the data produced. Never had an issue outdoors, so needless to say I won’t deploy the chrono indoors anymore and just wait for spring! FWIW

Thank you for your comments. I have used my C1 indoors almost exclusively and never had an issue, not that I know of at least.

2/16/26 Update - Took the C1 and C2 to the indoor range on Saturday and ran them one on each side of the barrel. Measurements were VERY close to the same. I have no idea what went on with the first trip out with the C2. Pilot error no doubt.

Just a thought… But do you think the indoor environment could have something to do with how the radar was catching input waves? Could the walls etc interfere with the Chronographs function?

That’s definitely something to consider. But in all of the times I’ve used them indoors I had never had one NOT pick up my shot, nor have I ever had one pick up someone else’s shot. But it all seems to be ok now, so we’ll see how it goes. Thanks for your thoughts.
