Cleaning my Bix'n Andy trigger

How do I clean my Bix’n Andy trigger? Is this the same for all Bix’n Andy triggers?

When it comes to cleaning a Bix’n Andy trigger, the most important thing to remember is that they are all designed to run dry. Making sure that you use a degreaser or a solvent that won’t leave an oily residue is best.

We typically recommend opening the trigger in a bag or bowl to avoid escaping parts and then soaking the components in acetone (for really stubborn dirt you could use a little brake cleaner).

Once the parts have soaked, use a cotton swap to brush away dirt. Once all parts have been cleaned and allowed to dry you can reassemble the trigger.

The orientation of parts does differ from trigger to trigger but essentially they are easy to reassemble so long as you take a picture before hand and note where parts came from.

Do you have a specific trigger in mind that you need cleaning guidance on?

Rael, I switched to using 92% alcohol and swabs to wipe down all the interior surfaces several years ago and it seems to work fine. I got that recommendation from one of your techs when I called to ask about a trigger that started to delay fire. I opened up the case, took a picture of the internals, then removed the balls, two springs, and the internal parts, wiped them all down with a swab wetted with the 92% alcohol, let them air dry, and then reassembled them.

Prior to that, I had been just soaking the whole trigger in brake cleaner, without any disassembly. When I cleaned it the first time as described above, my swabs were very dirty, with not so much particulates, but a black residue. I shoot an unlimited rifle at ARA matches and use the Bix Competition trigger. They have worked flawlessly since I started cleaning them this way, and I don’t see the heavy dark residues on the swabs anymore.

That’s great @Rimfireshooter99 ,

Yes, a combo or some light solvent and cotton swabs is very effective for trigger cleaning.

I have recently disassembled my TacSport Pro X for cleaning, and because it is a left hand I had to remove the safety assembly. I have found it extremely difficult to reassemble the safety due to the symbal-shaped washers which require compression to reattach the retaining clip. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good way to compress the washers??

Hi @docq,

I’m sorry to hear that you are struggling with the compression of those spring washers. I won’t lie to you; reattaching the safety without a specialized arbor press tool is extremely difficult (unless you have 6 hands  )!

We have a tool and special jig that was provided to us by Bix’n Andy that allows us to compress the springs with one hand while re-attaching the E-clip with the other hand.

If you would like, we’d be happy to do it for you. Please open a support ticket at the Help Center and we’ll get you and RMA number so your trigger can be serviced.
