Choosing the right action

First of all Iam a left handed shooter I’ve been reloading and shoot out to 1,300 yard for about 2 years. I have 22creedmoor, 6.5 creedmoor,6.5prc rifles as of now. I shoot mostly from a bench at a friend’s range. I want to build one high end rifle to shoot at 1,000 mostly .i want to buy the best action I can that versatile I plane to build a 7-6.5prcw rifle . I don’t want a straight up F class gun thought . So my question is which action go me the best versatility money is not a problem.

I make long range precision rifles and am convinced that the action makes little difference in the precision as long as its bearing surfaces are true. Its purpose is to load the cartridge into the chamber and extract it after being fired. It also must absorb the recoil of firing and therefore true bearing surfaces do make a difference. You can pay over $2000 for an action but a trued Remington 700 can shoot just as well. Some actions are smoother operating and some are prettier, but that is more a matter of art than precision. I do favor the actions that have a big integral recoil lug with a flat bottom because when Epoxy bedded they do provide the most consistent harmonics from shot-to-shot. I like the Defiance actions but take your pick. I would not waste bullets if the action is not Epoxy bedded. The most important feature of your rifle will be the precision of the barrel. It should be cut rifled 30” to 32” no-taper barrel in 9 twist. I favor Bartlein and so do most of the long range competition shooters. The MOST important aspect of the build is that the chamber runout (i.e. alignment with the bore) should be less than 0.0002”. That means perfect alignment with the bore so that bullets are uniformly engraved by the rifling. I would also suggest you try the straight .284 Winchester Match chamber. It is just as precise and is a little easier to support. Both should be capable of winning national championships but I favor the standard bolt face rather than the magnum bolt face. The stock can be what you like. Most are using laminate stocks with wide fore-end to get the weight to exactly match specs. I like those and they work. I would not use an aluminum chassis nor a bipod. A good trigger at 1.5 ounces is much more impacting than the stock or action you choose. The following picture is a .294 Win Match from a trued Rem 700 100-yard 5-shot load test. You are kidding yourself if you think buying a special $2000 receiver will improve group size.

Thank so much for the information. I guess what Iam saying is if you were only going to buy one high end action and wanted to be able to switch from standard bolt face to standard, medium mag bolts faces as you change barrel and calibers what actin would best do that?
