I am going to chamber a 7-6.5 PRC using the Alex Wheeler #1 reamer. Is your die compatible with his reamer? I assume with the “W” designation it would, but I just want to ask before I spend the money. Also, do you have an idea when it would be back in stock.
I am shooting that now. I ordered their seating die in 7-6.5PRCW from their web site. A corectly sized case would not fit in the die. After an extended adventure with their customer service they finally told me that it was listed in error on the site and they really didn’t make that die. The L.E. Wilson seater works perfectly.
Thank-you for the response. Before I spend $275 on a die, I want some idea if it will work properly. I’ve been down this road before with the 6 BRA and another brand of sizing die. All I wanted was a “yes” or a “no”. I’m not interested in any proprietary information. It seems they are unwilling to answer my question. I will look elsewhere.
My name is Elijah Holter and I was hired as the Manufacturing Manager here at Bullet Central about a month ago. One of my primary goals is to standardize our processes and improve our QC.
I would like to clear up some confusion on this matter. We do not offer a 7-6.5PRCW sizing die. If that was previously on our website, it was a mistake. The chambers in our sizing dies are manufactured using reamers, and we do not have a reamer for this caliber. If the demand is there, we could definitely look into developing a 7-6.5PRCW sizing die but that will take some time.
We DO currently offer a 7-6.5PRCW seating die. We are able to achieve that by using our 6.5PRC reamer, but then machining the neck to accommodate for the larger neck size. Based on this thread, I decided to do some checking into our current inventory. I found that the hole for the neck of the case is undersized, so we will be fixing everything that we currently have in inventory.
@Olddog , we pride ourselves in our customer service and would like to make this right. I would like to get our customer service team involved to get you a return label for that seating die. We will send you a replacement that will have the proper sized hole for the neck. Is that an acceptable course of action?
Here is a link to Alex’s explanation of the caliber, showing that a regular 6.5PRC die will work as long as the neck is opened up. This is what we are trying to achieve with our seating dies.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We are striving to improve and greatly appreciate your feedback on this issue.
Hello Elijah, thank-you for taking the time to introduce yourself and respond to the thread. The reason for the confusion on my part is the 7-6.5PRCW bushing die is on your website as of this morning:
Currently, it is shown as “out of stock.” Naturally, I asked to be notified when the die is available. I guess it won’t be available. This is the reason for confusion on my part.
My question to you is can I use your 6.5 PRC bushing die with an appropriate bushing for 7MM? Is it too tight for the neck to go into the bushing properly?
Again, I want to thank you for your attention in this matter, and your display of professionalism. Have a good day.
I did a little more digging this morning and found some clarity on this matter. We don’t currently have a 6.5PRC resize reamer, but we used to. It must have been broken at some point. I am going to get a new one on order, however, we do have current inventory of 6.5PRC sizing dies from previous runs. I can take some of those, open up the neck, and add them to the website as 7-6.5PRCW sizing dies.
That sounds great. I hope I will be notified when you put them into stock. I assume your 6.5 PRC reamers are SAAMI spec. That should work with the reamer I have ordered from JGS. If there is anything else I need to do to purchase the 7-6.5PRCW reamer, please let me know. Thanks for your attention in this matter. I appreciate good customer service.
